The Lodge

In the south east of Mauritius lies a historically interesting area named Old Grand Port. After the first settlers landed here several hundred years ago, picturesque fishermen villages have sprung up by the mountains and the wild Ocean shore and the area has an aura of long bygone times.

True to its name, La Case Du Pêcheur lies perched by a man-made fish pond in the midst of this picturesque nature setting. Adorned by a succulent growth of mangroves, its buildings are made from wood, stone and thatch, which makes them look like an integral part of the scenery.

La Case Du Pêcheur’s 15 guest rooms are arranged around a sitting area and the restaurant. They each have a small terrace which directly overlooks the silent waters of the lagoon and are kept in simple but yet very typical and almost historical island style.

Equipped with fans instead of air-conditioning, and a rustic bathroom with shower/toilet, the rooms have no television, but guests are cordially invited to make use of the TV lounge. The front desk has an island gift shop for gift ideas, and offers tips for hiking and recreation in the surrounding area. The lodge also has a small pool with loungers.
The very well reputed restaurant with adjoining bar offers an array of drinks as well as a gourmet choice of oysters, crabs and lobster fresh from the pond, accompanied by fresh vegetables from the nearby garden, a choice of vegetarian dishes and a choice of mouth-watering desserts.
